The last reason is because 1.8 servers are easier to run on big scales where you need more Lobby's, for examples Hypixel with the biggest player base is barely ever full while PVP Legacy full half of the time. that combined with OP saturation makes it more so that gear, weapon and sword are way more important than in 1.8 where a skilled could easily take down a bad player with way worse gear. its also way less populair than its succesor: bedwars, which was in 1.8.ġ.9 is also more hit trading, so its more based on preparation instead of skill (not saying it isn't skill based ofc). they have 1.9+ pvp, and imo it feels kinda awfull to play in. The server is now at a decline that can only be stopped if the server fully changes it's 1.9 combat system to 1. Try for example Cubecraft which has Eggwars (pretty much the OG bedwars). Many poeple are playing on Hive's 1.8 games or Mine-x's fully 1.8 combat orientated games. The reason being that 'attack, quick combo to death, and profit' works better for minigames. The reason most decent servers have 1.8 is bcs they're probs minigames based (I based that on Hypixel, Mineplex and the Hive etc which are all decent servers imo). Another thing is that 1.8 players don't know that you can combo in 1.9 too. block movement is also more usefull in 1.8 pvp since its usefull in skywars and bedwars etc. one final note is that other items are more utilised in 1.8, like rod tricking and obi trapping.
